Hello my name is Rhonda Shirley I am the Owner/Operator of Country Bark & Bath along with my partner. We have spent five years as franchise owners of a grooming salon in South Auckland which gave us some valuable experience to move onto our next venture owning and running our own salon. We are both very committed to continue to be part of the grooming industry and look forward to serving the community of Bombay and surrounding local areas.
My background is based with dogs both in grooming and shelters. In the past I worked for 7yrs in an animal shelter helping to care for and rehome dogs which I thoroughly enjoyed. Even though it was heartbreaking at times, it was a great reward when an adoption was successful. My next step was moving away from a shelter environment and breaking into the grooming industry. I started out as a trainee groomer then progressed into being a mobile dog groomer for 2yrs which gave me the foundation to be a salon groomer. After a few more years we became franchise owners moving into the business area of grooming. I have been grooming now for about 15 years.
Part of my passion lies in working with the more challenging dogs and also helping local animal charities volunteering our grooming services to give their dogs a better chance at finding a new forever home.
When we started in the grooming business we had three furry collie family members which were often seen at the salon but now all three collies have sadly passed and now we have Maggie a border collie and her brother Odie a heading dog x collie. We have 2 other furry four legged family members who have long ears our Donkeys Rosie and her daughter Tammy, they are mischievous and so lovable.
Animals for us are members of our family and we love them. We enjoy having the pleasure to work with them and have time with your treasured furry family members who become an extended part of our family.
We look forward to meeting the Bombay and surrounding community both furry friends and their two legged humans.
